Stalking the Balloon Man
Every time I was at Masjid India, I always see this gentleman carrying balloons, selling them to the kids around Jalan Bonus. When the gang and I were taking photos around Lorong Haji Taib, we saw him coming out of one of the flats. I think that is where he lived.
As we were about to make our way towards Medan Tuanku and Masjid India ourselves, I thought I would stalk him. Not that difficult with his distinctive bald head and colourful balloons floating, filled with helium!
He walked along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, chatting away with a few of the regulars there. He then crossed past Maju Junction towards Pertama Complex and Sogo, lingering there for a bit.
He then crossed the road taking him straight to Jalan Bonus where he reigned. I was pretty sure the number of balloons actually grew by the time he reached Masjid India. Maybe he had his vendors feeding them to him. I was not convinced. Next came the tricky part, keeping all his balloons upright, making sure they were not tangled into a knot. Took him nearly 10 minutes to get that one sorted out.
Maybe one day I would have a chat with him. It would make a fascinating photo documentary ...
