The Underpath

This was an opportune find. We were looking for ways to cross from Dataran Merdeka towards Rumah Tangsi. While walking, we noticed this tunnel under the roundabout in front of the Bank Negara building. It was shaded, so it was worth a try.

Well, away from the traffic, we were surprised to see this part of town. The area under the roundabout is called “Jejak Pahlawan”. Nothing was mentioned about the significance of this area, but it forms part of the “KL Heritage Trail”.

The roof of the place looked to be brand new, although the tunnel underneath the roundabout seemed to be there for a long time.  It had a new coat of paint, with some seats in the shaded area. It would provide shelter from the sweltering heat as well as the rain should the heavens open.

It looked to be an ideal place for skateboarders. Unfortunately, rising out from the exit, we still had to cross Jalan Parliament to reach Rumah Tangsi. Not ideal. Regardless, this place was a right gem!
